NIÑOS CON CÁNCER participates in a workshop on the treatment of pain in children and adolescents with cancer
The Fundación Cris Contra el Cáncer conducted on Friday its first workshop at Caixa Forum “Management of Pain Recommendations in Children with Cancer”, which has officially introduced the first “Clinical Practice Guidelines for Pain Management in Children with Cancer” Funded by the Cris Foundation and developed by Institute of Health Carlos III Health Care Research Unit. Its development also included the Federación Española de Padres de NIÑOS CON CÁNCER.
Carmen Menéndez, head of the Health Commission of NIÑOS CON CÁNCER, represented in this workshop to parents of children affected by cancer, “The pain is not just physical. There are many factors that make our children suffer, as the separation of siblings and their environment. The Federation is committed to give this guide the widest possible dissemination and evaluate the acceptance rate that it would have in hospitals”, said Menendez.
And is that all speakers agreed that, after the hard work to develop this Guide, the first that comprehensively addresses pain in children with this disease, there is still a long way to go, because “requires changing protocols and stopping to study the guide, which takes time that, sometimes, doctors have. Although, it has been received very well as support material”. At the table also participated The Asociación de NIÑOS CON CÁNCER of Madrid-ASION, the Hospital Niño Jesús and the Investén-ISCIII.
